The AMA perfume guide

We have carefully selected some of our most popular scents inspired by a number of High Street brands. Whether it’s a subtle daytime scent you require, an intense evening fragrance to make the night extra special, or a scent to match the season, our range at Ava May Aromas is perfect for you. Our range is full strength perfumes which produce long lasting scent on the body – i.e. Eau De Parfum and not Eau De Toilette. All fragrance oils used in our perfumes are tested and approved as safe for use by certified laboratory testing. Proof of certification is available upon request.

Concentration of your Perfume

Concentration is a name given for the ratio of perfume to alcohol. The latter helps diffuse a scent and it determines how long the smell will last on your skin. Eau de Parfums have more perfume and are more intense (they can last up to five hours). Eau de Toilettes have less and are lighter (they can last up to three hours).

Fragrance notes

• Top notes: The first scent you smell after spraying the perfume, which fades quickly.
• Middle/heart notes: The scent that develops after the top note fades.
• Base note: The heaviest scent that lingers the longest.

How to apply your Perfume

We suggest applying 1 – 3 sprays of our perfume from around 5 – 7 inches away from your body, to ensure the perfume settles evenly over your skin. Make your scent last longer by choosing a few pulse points. These are warm areas that will help diffuse the fragrance across your body. Spraying your ankles and calves will allow the scent to rise throughout the day.

Your pulse points on your body include:

• Your wrists
• Inside your elbows
• On your neck
• Below your midriff
• Behind your knees

Rubbing your wrists together after applying Perfume

Rubbing your wrists together after spraying will encourage the scent to quickly disappear. Therefore your perfume will not last as long.

Storing your Perfume

Heat, light, and humidity will break down the perfume and lessen the quality and intensity of the fragrance. We suggest storing your perfume bottles in a cool, dry place, away from windows.

Top Tips

Apply your perfume after taking a shower or bath. The moisture on your skin will help lock in the scent.
From a distance spritz a light mist of perfume over your clothes. Clothing fibres are able to hold in scents for a long time even after you have washed them.
Finally, for light fragrant hair locks spray your favourite perfume onto your brush before running it through your hair.
