The importance of taking time to yourself with a bath.
Bathing has been part of our world for centuries, submerging ourselves in water has been used for hygiene, leisure, and health. There is nothing more enjoyable than taking a warm fragranced bath on a cool and rainy day or a refreshing swim in a cool body of water in the summer months.
Hydrotherapy and cryotherapy have long detailed histories, starting from boiling water being sourced from hot springs and naturally occurring hot pools being visited by people from around the world for its mineral-rich waters to ice baths being used alleviate muscle pains and damage, both the use of hot and cold water have beneficial effects on the mind and body.
Just because we can’t go to a hot spring regularly doesn’t mean we have to miss out on the health benefits it provides, taking baths have been scientifically proven to improve the health of the body and mind.

Ease muscles, joints, and bones.
Moving and stretching in water has been known to be low impact on the joints and muscles whilst still providing an adequate workout with less chance of injury. Warm water also helps with relaxing and elevating pain in muscles and joints.
Cleanse and moisturize your skin and hair
Bathing and steaming is an excellent way to hydrate the body in all aspects whilst enhancing the experience by adding certain oils like our Bath Oil, adding salts or bathing in a natural body of water rich in minerals.
Improve heart health and breathing
Immersing yourself in water past your chest can be beneficial for your lung capacity and oxygen intake with the pressure and steam from the water helping clear your sinus and chest. The warmer water will also make your heart beat faster and increase blood flow which can give it a healthy workout as well as increase your oxygen levels.
Taking care of your wellbeing.
As well as allowing yourself to take some time, enjoy the peace away from the distractions of your world and treating yourself to a little luxury in your bath, whether that be with bath bombs, oils or bubble bars, bathing in warm water can increase levels of serotonin, which is the chemical produced by the associated with wellbeing and happiness. Chocolate also releases serotonin so why not add that to your bath time experience for the ultimate serotonin release. Submergence in water can also calm the nervous system and help reduce the levels of stress and anxiety.
Please note: it is advised that health professionals are consulted if you have pre-existing health conditions or diseases are present before undertaking any form of hydrotherapy.
