Reed Diffusers

The Ava May Aromas range of reed diffusers has been specifically designed to add elegance and style to any room. They can be used as an alternative to scented candles and wax melts or in combination to create an even stronger aroma.

We also have a range of reed sticks designed to complement the diffusers and maximise the scent throw. In addition, we offer our branded reed diffuser refill oil in our own branded reed diffuser bottle. Scents are used to invigorate different moods and can be helpful if you want to de-stress, lift your mood or just simply create a lovely ambiance in a room.

What is a reed diffuser?

A reed diffuser is a vessel which contains scented liquid. The liquid is a fine blend of aromatic scent and a base fluid. The fluid works with porous reed sticks which are placed into the liquid through the top of the vessel. The reeds absorb the scented liquid which then travels up the length of the reed before diffusing into the air thus creating a beautiful aroma in the room. When you first use a reed diffuser, we recommend the following.

•Unscrew the collar and remove the seal

•Replace the collar and insert the reeds

•Allow 48 hours for the fragrance to fill the room with scent

•For a stronger scent use all of the reeds and turn them daily, for a more subtle scent use fewer reeds and turn less often.

Why choose an Ava May Aromas Reed Diffuser?

Designed to complement all interior styles, our diffusers add a touch of aesthetic appeal to any setting. We offer a choice of diffusers which are supplied with your choice of reed diffuser oil. Our range of reed diffuser oil can be viewed here.

Not all ceramic reed diffusers are equal. The quality of the materials and processes used in making the vessel are important for the versatility and life of the vessel and we therefore go to great lengths to ensure that Ava May Aromas diffusers are of the highest quality. But don’t take our word for it, read what our customers say at Trustpilot.

As the UK wax melt industry leader, we are proud of being Leaping Bunny certified and strive to be an environmentally friendly and ethical company.

Ava May Aromas is ‘the’ wax melt brand loved by Mrs Hinch, who has a number of our wax melt burners and reed diffusers placed around her home. We are big Hinching fans and love seeing our products featured on Mrs Hinch’s Instagram stories. We are forever grateful to Sophie Hinchcliffe for her amazing support.

We offer both Round Diffuser which can hold 100ml of scent and needs 25cm reeds, and the larger Teardrop shaped reed diffusers, which holds 250ml of fragrance.

We also supply a range of reed diffuser reed sticks in black, white and grey plus we offer different sizes to work with different sizes of vessel. You can find our reed sticks here

Please be aware that there are variations in the quality of reed sticks meaning that some are more effective than others. We have created our range of reed sticks after rigorous testing and are confident that you will be happy with the quality. We recommend turning your reeds upside down every few days to help keep them effective. Reeds can eventually get clogged and fail to perform and we therefore recommend changing your reeds if the scent throw diminishes.

What happens when I use all of the scented oil?

If you run out of scented aroma oil, simply log onto our web site and order a Reed Diffuser Refill Our reed diffuser refill range has a wide choice of aroma oils inspired by perfumes and cleaning scents.

Safety

We recommend that you place the diffuser on either a plate or mat rather than directly onto furniture. This is to avoid drops of liquid landing on your furniture and causing damage. When turning your reeds, be careful not to allow any drops from the aroma liquid to drop onto your furnishings. Place the diffuser where it is not likely to be knocked over by people and pets.

How do reed diffusers work?

The first step is to pour scented reed diffuser oil into a reed diffuser vessel. You then add rattan reeds. Rattan reeds are designed to absorb the scented oil, draw the oil up the dry reed and release the scent into the air. To improve performance, we recommend you turn your reeds up the other way every week thus placing the dry end into the oil. This will increase the fragrance in the room. As you can see, reed diffusers are very simple to use. Now if somebody asks you ‘how do reed diffusers work?’, you’ll be able to answer in 5 short sentences.

Why buy reed diffusers?

Reed diffusers provide a great alternative to scented candles. They give a continuous aroma, don’t require a naked flame and don’t need to be monitored. Many people use them in busy rooms such as hallways and entrances where high foot traffic creates a constant air flow and therefore helps to disperse the fragrance. Reed diffusers are also popular in bathrooms and bedrooms where they create a constant aroma and don’t have to be monitored for a burning flame (in the way that candles need monitoring). Reed diffusers also make an attractive ornamental piece. They can be kept indefinitely and when the oil runs out or stops giving a strong aroma, you can simply view our range of reed diffuser refills and choose the same scent or a fresh alternative.

How long do reed diffusers last?

There is no fixed answer to ‘how long do reed diffusers last?’ This depends on a variety of factors. The first consideration is the volume of oil and scent in the reed diffuser. The more oil and scent, the longer the aroma will last. It also depends on the individuals sense of smell. The stronger your sense of smell, the less often you will need to use a reed diffuser refill. Using lots of reeds will increase the strength of aroma in the room but will also diffuse the scent quicker. In contrast, too few reeds will make it difficult to smell the scent but it will definitely last longer. At the point where you can no longer smell the scent, you can simply change the oil by reviewing our reed diffuser refills and choosing a scent of your liking. And finally, reeds become clogged over time and therefore less efficient at absorbing the oil and dispersing the scent. Regularly changing the rattan reeds is important.
